Margaret Virginia Hill

Bill and I send our deepest sympathy in the loss of your Mom, Margaret Virginia Hill. Mrs. Hill and her late husband, W.A. (Red) Hill, have been our neighbors since 1958. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you. Bill and Idalee Allen

Mrs. Hill, I always loved hearing the stories about you and Hiram's grandfather and things ya'll did long ago. I loved hearing them as much as you loved telling them. We will see you again one day.

We will all miss you with your mischievous smile and funny comments. I remember all the times that Mama and I would go to your house right after I got out of school; we'd all talk and laugh while we watched Gunsmoke and The Waltons. I remember eating turkey and dressing at your house at Thanksgiving, and eating ham on toasted bread at Christmas. I remember your 45th anniversary--when I talked Mama into letting me try the "grapejuice" (red wine=YUCK!).

I remember all the times that Mama and I would go to your house right after I got out of school; we'd all talk and laugh while we watched Gunsmoke and The Waltons. I remember eating turkey and dressing at your house at Thanksgiving, and eating ham on toasted bread at Christmas. I remember your 45th anniversary--when I talked Mama into letting me try the "grapejuice" (red wine=YUCK!). I remember picking the best, juiciest grapes off your grape vine every August or so, and I remember your homemade grape and apple jelly (YUM!). I remember that you and Papa always bought the "expensive" cheese (Kraft brand singles), and I remember that you always had a block of sharp cheddar cheese in the refrigerator and that Papa would cut off a slice or two with his pocket knife just for me. I remember that you always had a box of vanilla wafers and those little wafer cookies with the cream filling in the middle. I remember that you always bought me a pair of boots for my birthday in January, and often they had fur at the top...it was a tradition. I remember riding in between you and Papa in the T-bird, while sitting on the fold-down arm rests across the bench seat. I remember spending the night and the "tick-tock, tick-tock" at night and the smell of freshly cooked bacon, eggs, and biscuits at the crack of dawn the next morning; the bisucuits were always Pilsbury Flaky Layers, and I'd peel them apart, layer-by-layer, and we'd sop up the light corn syrup and butter mixture. I remember your Triple Lanolin lotion. I remember going to Hickory Hollow Mall on occasion after church on Sunday to eat at Morrison's Cafeteria, where you would probably get aggravated at me blowing bubbles in my chocolate milk, but Mama always let me do it, anyway. I remember our shopping trips, and so many other things, and those are the memories that I will treasure.

Grandma, I'll miss you, but I'm glad that you'll be re-united with Grandaddy after being apart for so long. The time will seem like nothing compared to eternity. I'll always remember grocery shopping with you at Cooper & Martin and spending the night at your house when I was a kid. Hug Grandaddy for me. I hope to join you both in Heaven one day.
